2010 Dane Buy Local Venetian Boat Parade

Thank you to everyone who helped make our 2nd Annual Dane Buy Local Venetian Night ~ A Boat Parade of Lights on Lake Mendota a success!

Local boat owners have again offered a sea of support in this very unique opportunity to help raise awareness of Dane Buy Local member businesses. Each decorated vessel will showcase a member in their own way…take advantage of this opportunity and let your creativity flow!

September 5, 2010, at DUSK (7:45 PM), the official Dane Buy Local boat, The Betty Lou, will depart Maple Bluff leading all decorated parade boats along the shoreline toward the UW Memorial Union. Many Dane Buy Local members have found this to be a very unique opportunity to showcase their local business, as well as the overall message to THINK LOCAL FIRST.

There are several prime viewing spots along the southeast shoreline of our magnificent Lake Mendota.  Once the last parade boat passes the UW Memorial Union, the sky will light up with fireworks from a barge anchored off the Edgewater Hotel Pier. Our fireworks show will again be created especially for Dane Buy Local Venetian Night, compliments of Dane Buy Local member Spectrum Pyrotechnics.

Last year’s event and its theme: "What Local Business Floats YOUR Boat?" was hailed a huge success according to local media coverage.  The scuttlebutt includes plans for an even bigger event in 2010 so spread the word, then come on down and celebrate local business!
