Be a part of the Green Building buzz by participating in Dane County's first-ever 2010 Sustainable Showcase of homes. The tour will feature both newly built Green-Certified homes, and existing renovations, in Dane County and Madison.
This tour allows homeowners and contractors to discuss their green building techniques and the newest innovations in sustainable building and remodeling. Tour attendees will be able to ask questions and see firsthand how they could incorporate green building practices in their current or future home. More than 20 homes and sites will be featured in various stages of construction and certification.
The Presenting Sponsor for the event is MG&E, which is generously donating funds and in-kind support. Focus on Energy is a Gold Sponsor, and Isthmus is the Media Partner for the event.
The first home to sign up for the tour is The Resource House outside Verona, WI – a net-zero, all electric home using no fossil fuels. All of the electricity needed is produced using 54 PV panels on the roof, GSHP for heating and cooling (dual source using both water and air) and 2 solar panels for domestic hot water. These technologies are combined with energy efficient building techniques such as insulation upgrades, energy efficient appliances, and a passive solar home design in addition to extensive green finishes.
Organizers are now recruiting additional sponsors and sites for the tour. Sponsorship and entry forms are available via the links at the bottom of this email.
This is the first collaborative tour by Madison Area Builders Association, National Association of the Remodeling Industry, Realtors® Association of South Central Wisconsin and the Madison Chapter of the Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association.
An after-event party will be held at the Habitat ReStore, 208 Cottage Grove Road, Madison for networking and business contacts plus beer tasting. Proceeds from the event will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Dane County. More information on when tickets for the event will be available will be coming. The tickets will be $10 per person and sold at all four Home Savings Bank locations, or available for purchase at sites the day of the event.
