ProductsAt Good n Loud we sell musical instruments and all parts and accessories, from drums and cables to amplifiers and guitars. We outfit beginner to professional, and our products have a wide price range. We also rent, sell and repair band and orchestra equipment. We teach lessons to over 600 students, on a variety of instruments from the basic guitar and keyboard to the more obscure mandolin and banjo. We employ 35 teachers who are all musicians themselves. By helping these artists to make a living through their craft, we hope to further contribute to our local community. |

PhilosophyBeing locally owned and independent allows us to develop reciprocal relationships within our community. The youth who take lessons with us often have fundraising or musical events at their schools, and when we are contacted for donations, we feel fortunate to be a part of the circle of community support. Another benefit is our unique relationships with our customers. Purchasing an instrument is a very interactive experience, and it works best when both parties truly care about the outcome. We rely heavily on word of mouth publicity, so you can be assured that our experienced staff is genuinely interested in getting the right instrument into the right hands. |

HistoryChris and Steve have lived in Madison for many years, opening our first Good n Loud location on Gorham and Broom in 1976. At that point Good n Loud was primarily involved with providing equipment for outdoor concerts and events. When we began to sell musical instruments, we quickly outgrew our location, moving to University Avenue in 1989. There we began offering music lessons as well. In 2005 we opened our additional Atwood location in response to a growing waiting list of students. Our Atwood store has a great deal of space available for kids to practice for free, collaborate, and simply express themselves musically. |
