HistoryCo-owner Bob Golden began working in the cooperative food industry when he first arrived in Madison. He was the first employee for Inter Community Co-op (ICC, later known as North Farms Co-op) and also helped manage Mifflin Street Co-op. Since its inception in October 1978, R.E. Golden Produce has been striving to bring the Dane county area the best in food goods and other items that enhance the food business. Starting in 1985, Golden Produce has been located on Gilson Street, in the building once occupied by ICC. The larger venue has allowed for greater diversity in the product selection, as opposed to the early years, when cheese and Nancy's yogurt were the only goods being distributed. The current inventory includes countless items added over the past decades. During that time we have also increased our transportation capability with more trucks and delivery taking place six days a week. As the company has grown we have been proud to be known as a family business that gives personal attention to each and every account, regardless of size. |
