UW-Madison's Small Business Development Center www.uwsbdc.org offers three basic services: the Wisconsin Business AnswerLine wisconsinsbdc.net/busanswer/, Business Education Seminars and one-to-one business Counseling.

Wisconsin Business AnswerLine counselors have real-world business management experience. They're available to provide personalized attention Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30 pm. The service is free! Call 608.263.7680 or 1.800.940.7232.

Seminars include Startup Business Solutions, Established Business Solutions, Leadership, and Special Programs on topics ranging from financial management, selling, managing people and time, business planning, leadership, web marketing, green business practices, taxes and legal issues, first steps to starting a business, and small business fundamentals.

Philosophy

Like the staff of other SBDCs in the state, we live and work where you do, and know the realities of running an enterprise in this economic and cultural environment. We're members of Dane Buy Local because we want to provide wider opportunities for local, independently owned businesses in South Central Wisconsin.

History

Through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, we've helped create successful business stories through education, training, and mentoring to start-up businesses, existing businesses, high tech businesses and CEOs in Dane, Sauk and Columbia counties since 1979. Thousands of entrepreneurs have come to our seminars and taken advantage of SBDC counseling.
