PhilosophyWe support local business because the people of Madison aren't just our clients, they're our friends and neighbors. We're invested in their success because it's our success too. To create the kind of community we want to live in, we all need to help keep it in business.
Our great strength as a small repair outfit is that we have a chance to meet you, understand your situation, and deliver a level of personalized service that an international conglomerate simply can't. We remember your face and speak your language; you will like working with us.
CTRL+shift is also strong advocate of environmentally-friendly tech solutions. We encourage clients to repair rather than replace equipment whenever possible and to use energy-efficient devices and practices. We also take in old but functional equipment for refurbishing. |

HistoryThe idea of 'shifting control' solidified into a company in 2009, owned an operated by Miles Vancura. Three friends – all tech service veterans – were alarmed by a certain trend we saw emerging in personal computing. To many of its users, the computer had become more like an oracle or a genie than a carefully-engineered tool. People had come to expect magic, unreliability, and chaos from their computers, forgetting that they are, above all else, fathomable machines. The technology industry did not improve this situation, largely adopting a “you-don't-need-to-know” policy on their products. It seemed that most people had very little motivation to try and understand their computers. This needed to change. |
