HistoryAfrican Youth Outreach was founded in 2004 by Rebecca and Alex Kendziorski to serve children whose lives are affected by HIV. Since that time, they have been taking volunteers to Ingwavuma, South Africa, to work with an AIDS orphan project that serves over 4000 children who have lost their parents to the HIV epidemic. AYO was formed in order to help provide financial assistance as well as coordinating an HIV prevention and lifeskills program for the children in this area. AYO is hoping to not only raise awareness of the global HIV epidemic, but also to get the local community interested in joining the fight against HIV and the damage it causes. In the future, we plan to expand our services to other orphan projects in South Africa and Swaziland, and start a summer camp program for children in southwest Wisconsin. |
