PhilosophyHabitat Restore embodies many strengths of the Buy Local initiative. With a mission aimed at neighborhood restoration, the store provides local businesses and citizens affordable options for sprucing up the look of their homes and shops. By accepting donations and reselling the goods the store operates in a local closed-loop supply system. This reduces transportation costs and inputs to our landfills. And finally, Habitat ReStore provides the resources to build affordable housing with Habitat for Humanity of Dane County. IN six years, the Habitat ReStore has generated enough funds to build over 17 homes.Habitat Restore's strength comes from the 50 community volunteers that keep the store going. Anyone who would like to become part of this dynamic team is welcome to volunteer their time. |

HistoryOn the verge of its 6th birthday, Habitat Restore has a lot to celebrate. The store has generated over $2.8 million from the resale of donated household building materials, and diverted 8 million pounds of goods from our local landfills. Proceeds and building materials are donated to the Dane County Habitat for Humanity for constructing homes for local families in need. As the first of its kind in Wisconsin, the store has served as a model for seven other Habitat Restore locations in our state. A diverse group of volunteers give their time and talents to the operation of the Restore and new volunteers are always welcome. Come be a part of the Restore community. |
