PhilosophyBuilding relationships with businesses in Wisconsin has been essential to the success of Hallman/Lindsay from the beginning. We have purchased raw materials from the same supplier in Milwaukee for over 50 years. We work in partnership with a Madison wholesaler to sell over two million dollars of paint supplies in our stores. We also work with a Madison accounting firm, source wood restoration products from a supplier in Franklin, utilize shipping companies from Waterloo and Wausau, and purchase our signature paint can signs from a manufacturer in Hobart. We are committed to continuing to work with local companies to provide the best service to our customers and to help build our local community. |

HistoryOur company was founded as Hallman Paints in 1956 on Main Street in Madison by three employees who left Mautz Paint: Bill Hallman, Bob Lindsay and Don Dega. Shortly thereafter, Bob Lindsay left to start Lindsay Finishes. Separately, both Hallman Paints and Lindsay Finishes enjoyed steady growth. In 1976, Hallman Paints moved to Sun Prairie to increase manufacturing capability. In 1991, Hallman Paints bought Lindsay Finishes and formed Hallman/Lindsay Paints. We moved to a new factory in Sun Prairie’s industrial park in 1998. The plant is one of the most up-to-date in the country and totals 82,000 square feet on 11 acres of land. Today, Hallman/Lindsay is the only remaining Wisconsin–based paint manufacturer with its own stores serving contractors and the general public. |
