PhilosophyLocally owned shops have so much more to offer than chain stores. J Kinney is proud to be a business that highlights and expresses the unique character of the local region. The first locally grown flower we sold in the shop was of the native prairie type, a beautiful plant with a strong role in this region's history. Another benefit of shopping at a locally owned store is the knowledge and expertise you can expect from the employees. We are very selective of the products that we sell in our store. Each product has to have a story behind it that we would like to share with our customers, and our employees are eager to do so when asked. |

HistoryJ. Kinney Florist has been in business for over 22 years, located on King Street on the capitol square for the vast majority of this time. In 2005 the florist moved to its current location at 1835 Monroe Street, where we enjoy much more space as well as the many other shops that are female and independently owned in close proximity. When the florist opened in 1983 the focus was primarily on unusual flowers sold by the stem, a rare specialty at a time when most florists sold more traditional flowers in arrangements. Today the focus has broadened to include many locally grown flowers and locally produced goods for the home. |
