Olbrich's Growing Gifts Shop is operated by the non-profit Olbrich Botanical Society. 100% of gift shop profits are donated to Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Olbrich's 16-acre outdoor display gardens are open to the public at no charge every day of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. The Bolz Conservatory, an indoor tropical garden, is open every day as well; admission is $1 for people 6 and older and free to OBS members and all visitors Wednesday and Saturday mornings 10 am to noon. HistoryThe Growing Gifts Shop has come a long way from its origins. Stating in 1988, temporary gift shops were set up during annual flower shows and special events. These gift shops were run entirely with volunteer support and help from the Olbrich Garden Club. The money earned by these occasional shops was used to purchase the original inventory of the shop as we know it today. The Growing Gifts Shop moved to its present location in 1990 and added a few paid part-time staff positions. However, it is the efforts of a wonderfully committed and responsible group of volunteers-including many from the original team-who keep the Growing Gifts Shop open 10 am to 4 pm, 7 days a week. With a focus on high quality botanical gift items, few visitors to the Gardens leave without making some purchase from the gift shop. |
