Whether it's at the Dane County Farmers Market or a local market in Guatemala, we strive to have our purchases directly benefit the people and communities who make these products and the community-based businesses that strive to be socially and environmentally responsible. |

HistoryTerra Experience was started in 1999 as a very small, socially responsible business to help Mayan friends in Guatemala earn some additional income for school supplies and other needs of their families. I hoped there might be a market for fine hand-woven ethnic doll clothes that would allow me to provide a fair wage to Guatemalan weavers and give children in North America a chance to experience and support the living Mayan culture. We are a member of "Green America" (formerly Coop America) and were recognized as one of 10 Green Toys for 2008 http://www.coopamerica.org/programs/shopunshop/10greentoys.cfm. We were also recognized in 2008 by Madison Magazine as one of 25 "Green Heroes". |
