Many of the recipes have been passed down from generation to generation while some of the menu is created based off of personal restaurant experience. When people buy and shop local, the money stays within the community and circulates between many local businesses. At La Mestiza, all of our food is made with fresh ingredients. Many of the ingredients that we use come from local vendors in Madison and throughout Wisconsin. The fresh produce that we use in our dishes is all from Wisconsin. We are thankful for all the people and businesses that contribute to local businesses and shops within Madison as it strengthens our community and supports the local economy. |

HistoryAntonio Estrada opened La Mestiza in 2007 after working in the restaurant industry for several years. After renovating the restaurant with family and friends, La Mestiza has become known for its authentic and traditional Mexican dining. The name La Mestiza was chosen to reflect the diverse history of Hispanics who come from various parts of Mexico. It expresses a concept of mixing together the cultures of native Mexicans and Hispanics. The dishes served at this restaurant express the rich culture that is embedded in La Mestiza. |
