PhilosophyThe Capital Times Company has not just been "in" Madison... it has been "of" Madison since its founding in 1917. 100% locally-owned and locally-controlled, The Capital Times Company has donated millions of dollars to the community over the years through its charitable arm, the Evjue Foundation. |

HistoryThe Capital Times was founded in 1917 by William T. Evjue, a former Wisconsin State Journal managing editor who had grown disillusioned with the State Journal's conservative shift and lack of support for Senator Robert M. "Fighting Bob" LaFollette. It has been the feisty local & progressive voice of Madison ever since. The Capital Times Company currently publishes The Capital Times online at captimes.com in addition to the weekly news magazine The Cap Times and the twice-weekly entertainment publication 77 Square. Through the Evjue Foundation, The Capital Times Company donates more than $2 million each year to educational, cultural and nonprofit causes in Madison and Dane County. |
