Experience a deeply rejuvenating and revitalizing Thai Massage at Thai Yoga Metta, where I specialize in Thai Yoga Massage and my own intuitive Thai Yoga style of Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy. I practice a traditional form of Thai Massage with deep roots in yoga-based energy-body work, breathe awareness, meditation and loving-kindness (Metta). This practice has a 2500 year healing tradition since its inception with the physician to Buddha and the Buddhist and Yogic spiritual communities.

Thai Yoga Massage is a full-body therapy practiced fully clothed on a mat on the floor. It is common for the recipient to experience a deep dreamy state during the massage and to experience a fluid lightness of spaciousness, increased energy and a more grounded, centered state of awareness. Increased mobility and flexibility and decreased pain are also common. Recipients often report noticeable effects for up to two weeks after a session and some conditions may be alleviated for longer periods or removed if environment or lifestyle conditions do not reintroduce them.

In my Thai Yoga Massage practice, a 2-hour session is the standard, although I also do sessions from 1-4 hours in length. For more information, visit my website: http://www.ThaiYogaMetta.com. You may also choose to view my availability and book a session online at your convenience.

Several other practitioners are also available in this beautiful lake view location at the base of Jenifer Street on the Isthmus, offering private yoga sessions, chakra balancing, Biodynamic Craniosacral and Swedish massage, and spa-like treatments.

Philosophy

Buying local is important to me. I have been interested in what it takes to create a sustainable culture and lifestyle for most of my life. A big part of that is in creating sustainable community. When we look to our own community for relationships and goods and services we help to create and maintain a vibrant local community. We all want to live in a happy healthy community, one where if we need the help of our neighbors and community members they are there to help us because we help each other. One where we have more knowledge and trust of the interrelationships between the community and the resources and where we can have the most influence over shaping the world around us in a way that is in accord with how we want to live and where we are most likely to be able to create a safe and wonderful place for our children and their children to live.

We are now more aware than ever of the impact of fossil fuels, pollutants, and un-sustainable practices used all over the world in the production of goods and services. The more we depend on sources that are far removed from our local communities the more non-renewable resources are used and the more pollutants are produced. We are also contributing to un-healthy and un-sustainable social and political practices around the world which are out of our sphere of influence except by making conscious choices to buy from known local sources.

History

In the early 1970s I began practicing yoga and meditation and began using my hands to help friends in need with aches and pains. I also enrolled in a massage program in a Eugene,OR community college. I did not complete that program and went on instead to spend years in long meditation retreats and then teaching meditation. Fast-forward many years through raising a family and I found myself looking for a healing art I would love that would somehow take advantage of all those years of meditation and yoga. I stumbled upon Thai Yoga Massage and fell in love.

Traditional Thai Massage is an ancient, sacred form of bodywork that is based on a synthesis of yoga, Ayurveda, knowledge of the pranic energy body, a meditative state and Metta (the Buddhist practice of loving-kindness). Its origin is attributed to the Ayurvedic physician to Buddha, Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, The Father Doctor. My own training is in the northern style in the lineage of Asokananda through two of his students, Saul David Raye and Kam Thye Chow.
