Products

DreamBikes Madison is a non-profit bicycle store that employs youth from the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County. We offer affordable, quality bicycles to our customers, from the smallest of children's bikes to high-end road and mountain bikes. We also offer tune-ups and other repairs at reasonable prices. All sales and repairs are accomplished by our young employees, who are in the process of learning how to run a successful bike store. DreamBikes offers a micro-financing program to help people who need a bike, buy a bike. Our mission is to get more people on bikes, whether it's to get to work, to get in shape, or just to have fun. We're always accepting donations of bicycles, bike parts, and bike accessories.

Philosophy

Buying locally keeps our money in Dane County, supporting our neighborhood businesses and, in turn, our neighbors. DreamBikes is committed to helping our community however we can; all of our bikes (and most of our bike parts) are donated to us from our neighbors, instead of ending up at the dump.

History

DreamBikes is the brainchild of John Burke, president of the Trek Bicycle Corporation in Waterloo, Wisconsin. John, along with Roger Bird, DreamBikes' president of the board of directors, shaped the early visions and mission of DreamBikes, to be a community-based, used bicycle store employing neighborhood youth. In November 2007, general manager Kevin Short and a team of youth started working on the DreamBikes store on Verona Road, in the Allied/Dunn's Marsh neighborhood. April 2008 saw DreamBikes' Grand Opening, and the store has been a success ever since! Through youth empowerment and making bicycling more accessible to a community in need, DreamBikes is seeing change, and liking it!
