PhilosophyWe strive to carry products and buy our supplies at local or Wisconsin vendors. To this end, we sell No-Crack hand creams and lotions (LaCrosse), Florajen probiotics (Baraboo) and Chase greeting cards (Hartford). We order many of our prescription and over-the-counter medications from the Independent Pharmacy Coop (IPC), started in Madison and now based in Sun Prairie. Most of our equipment and supplies come from our local hardware store and office supply warehouse. |

HistoryShafer Pharmacy is on the site of the oldest, continuously operating pharmacy in the city of Madison. The building was built in 1915 and it has been a pharmacy ever since that date. Everett "Bud" Shafer was a partner of Joe LaCrosse (LaCrosse Pharmacy) in the mid-1950s and bought the business outright in 1959 when the name became Shafer Pharmacy. The present owner, Larry Nowicki, has owned the pharmacy since 1986. |
