ProductsLocated in Middleton, Capital Brewery is a world-renowned brewery and a favorite choice of many. The brewery produces up to 16 different beers per year: eight annuals, four seasonals, and up to four limited releases. The brewery also houses a Gift Haus, a Bier Stube, and an outdoor Bier Garten. The Bier Stube is a cozy room used for sampling our beer after a tour of the brewery and for private parties (available to anyone). The Bier Garten is a comfortable setting to get together with friends and family for conversation and camaraderie. During the summer, it is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for all to enjoy. Schedule a tour or try one of our unique beers today! |

PhilosophySupporting our local Dane county economy is important to the function of our business and has become well instilled in our practices, purchases, and decisions. Our Island Wheat Ale & Rustic Ale use wheat grown on Washington Island. When expanding our brewery, the tanks we purchased were built here in Wisconsin instead of searching abroad for something solely based on price. Being apart of a community is something that Capital Brewery strives to do. |

HistoryA Midwest staple, Capital Brewery was founded in 1984. The brewery began production in 1986, and now produces 22,000 barrels of beer annually. Making this high production possible is in part due to Brewmaster, Kirby Nelson. Having a background in the sciences and a love for great beer, his position seemed a perfect fit. And, after 20 years of being a world-class brewer, we agree. Our President Carl Nolen, began his appreciation of the business delivering kegs on State Street in 1978. Becoming the President of Capital Brewery in February 2004, he hasn't looked back since. Capital Brewery has become a renowned brewery, winning many respected awards over the years. In fact, in 1998 Capital Brewery was named "America's #1 Rated Brewery" by the Beverage Testing Institute's World Beer Championships. |
