ProductsFrom early Saturday mornings until 2pm from April to November, the Capital Square fills with vendors who bring the products of their labors. From flowers to melons, broccoli, and corn, tomato plants to baked goods, hand-made chocolates and custom meats from pastured cattle and ostriches, the market offers hundreds of products. PhilosophyThe Dane County Farmers' Market on Capital Square is known throughout the country for its unique character and mission: to promote the bounty of the land surrounding the Capital of the State of Wisconsin. In fact, it is the biggest (and we believe, the best) producers-only farmers' market in the United States.We support each other - urban and rural, people of all ages and needs. HistoryBegun officially in 1972, the Market has provided locally-grown or prepared food and agricultural products ever since. It offers a chance to deal directly and get to know each other rather than through third parties. The Market allows only Wisconsin agriculturally-related items that have been actively produced by the vendor. Craft-type items are not sold on the Square itself, but many other vendors and performers join in this community-building event each week. |
