Products

Nature's Bakery Cooperative is your local, organic, whole-grain bakery. We bake a variety of breads, granolas, cookies, veggie burgers, Essene, trail mix, and more. We believe that good, healthy food should be available to all people, not just to those who can afford the premium prices that often accompany the organic label. Compare our prices and our ingredients to similar products and you will find ours the superior value. Especially when you stop at our storefront, you can be assured we're providing you with "More Organics For Less."  Our full line of products is available at our storefront at 1019 Williamson Street. Also look for our products where you shop, as most of our business is wholesale to local Madison grocers.

Philosophy

At Nature's Bakery, we do our best to choose our ingredients from local producers who avoid use of chemicals and genetically modified seed. We use pure Wisconsin honey and maple syrup, and regionally grown, organic whole grains. Buying locally (and consciously) has always been our way.  But why should you buy locally produced food?
  • You will get exceptional taste and freshness.
  • Local food doesn't have to travel far, reducing packing materials and carbon dioxide emissions.
  • Buying locally is an investment in local businesses, farms and their workers.

History

Founded in 1970, Nature's Bakery Cooperative is a vegetarian bakery committed to using organic whole grains. For over 36 years, we've worked hard to provide Madison with delicious and healthy baked goods at a reasonable price, while creating a fair and sustainable workplace for ourselves. Located at 1019 Williamson Street, the bakery is organized as a worker's collective and we currently operate with eight full-time members. All members participate in the baking process, specialize in an area of management, and hold a seat on the board of directors. Great taste and good nutrition from a hometown bakery you can take pride in. What could be better?
