Tuvalu is a family owned and run Coffeehouse and Art Gallery with a commitment to fair trade and environmental awareness. Our coffeehouse provides 100% fair trade, locally roasted and organic coffee and tea, features fresh bakery, and serves breakfast and lunch with made-to-order sandwiches and soups. We also offer toys for kids and free Wi-Fi. Our eclectic gift shop includes a wide variety of functional and decorative art pieces, carved figurines, pottery, books, and other amazing fair trade pieces created by local Madison artists and artisans across the globe. We offer wheelchair accessibility, free parking, carryout and outdoor dining, and accept cash, checks, and major credit cards.

Philosophy

Economic impact studies nationwide show a "multiplier" effect from buying local: Three times as much money stays in the local economy when you buy goods and services from locally-owned businesses instead of large chain stores. More important though, is connecting with the shop owners, friends and unique businesses that are a part of our community. It is our mission to support our community with fundraisers and social events, local businesses and artisans, and to promote fair trade practices. Tuvalu is a member of Dane Buy Local and is committed to purchasing locally - from our produce, meats and baked goods to local & family owned paper goods supplier.

History

Tuvalu Coffeehouse & Gallery opened in April 2007. We saw that the community needed a great family friendly place to relax and enjoy delicious food and beverages as well as a place where we could offer local art and local music. Since its inception, we have aspired to provide the highest quality products using the freshest and best possible ingredients in a manner that promotes sound environmental practices and encourages social awareness and responsibility.
