Products

Bungalow Pros offers full-service residential architecture, from schematic design through construction documents.  We do small-scaled, whole-house designs and remodel additions to early 20th century houses, like bungalows, foursquares and tudor cottages.  We also offer some interior design services, like color consultation, historic fabrics and wallpapers, kitchen and bath design and designs for built-ins like fireplace surrounds and china hutches.  We do not sell window coverings, or a large range of lighting, but can refer you to other businesses that can help you.

Philosophy

Bungalow Pros opened it's retail/studio space in Madison in June of 2007.  Owner and designer Jill Kessenich wants to promote small, artisan workshops that make beautiful decorative arts, like pottery, tile, quarter-sawn oak frames, clocks and occasional furnishings.  We also want to promote our design services, especially to small, bungalow owners in central Madison neighborhoods.  We especially like to reinstate historic details like railings and built-ins that may have been removed.  We also encourage owners to add new living space, like enlarged kitchens, family rooms, additional bedrooms and bathrooms to their existing homes, rather than moving to a newer home on a larger lot.  This gives the owner additional living space, as well as encouraging higher density neighborhoods, instead of adding to urban sprawl.

History

Bungalow Pros has been in existence since the late 1990's, working out of the offices of Architecture Network, and various home offices.  Initially we were strictly a design firm, but in about 2002 started adding locally-made decorative arts, and a retail aspect to our business.  In 2004, we added a line of low VOC paint, called Devine Color.  The color palette is very compatible with the design work that we do.  In June of 2007, we opened a retail studio space in Colonial Corner, a mixed-use development on the corner of North and E. Johnson Streets.
