Formecology, LLC, is your local landscape design/build/care firm with a big mission: create beautiful, stress- free, eco-friendly outdoor spaces suitable for any site. Formecology is born from the idea of combining art (form) with nature (ecology). Our work is rooted in combining the most beautiful native plants, natural Wisconsin stone, recycled materials, drought-tolerant or no-mow turfgrasses, and rainwater-wise features.

As an independently owned local business, Formecology makes a point of supporting other local businesses not only through the products and services we use daily, but also through joint promotions, community involvement, and participation in local leadership and networking groups. As a landscape design/build/care firm with a focus on native species and natural eco-friendly landscapes, it’s important to us to use locally sourced plants, stone, and materials whenever possible to create beautiful designs that are a great fit for our local landscape and environment.

Formecology was created over 15 years ago to provide clients with an alternative to traditional landscape design, build and care by helping them develop their residential and commercial sites in a way that was beautiful, functional and easier on the environment. Since then we’ve been doing exactly that- providing sustainable and aesthetically pleasing solutions to everyday landscape needs. Current owner John J. Gishnock III joined the company in 2006 and his skills and expertise allowed Formecology to grow and develop into an established business based on satisfied clients, integrity, and environmental awareness. Our success as a business is based on referrals from and relationships with satisfied clients, both past and current, as well as similar-minded local contractors. We have a strong understanding of who we are and a vision for where we’re going, and we hope to continue to positively impact the industry and help people for years to come.
