ProductsThe Northside Farmers Market in Madison provides a place to shop for a wide variety of fresh local products in a small neighborhood atmosphere. With plenty of free parking and coffee, the outdoor market is open every Sunday, May through October, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, with special indoor winter markets in November and December. We have all the expected local products (garden plants, vegetables, fruits, honey, eggs, cheese, pork, beef, chicken, preserves, organic foods) plus some hard to find specialty items (squash blossoms, asian vegetables that don’t have a translation, and fresh herbs like pepiche, epazote, and lemongrass). We accept Quest and Senior and WIC FMNP vouchers. |

PhilosophyThe Northside Farmers Market exists to foster a local food system that supports a commitment to mutual respect, fairness, responsibility, and accountability from farmer through consumer, by providing a venue for farmers and consumers to interact directly. We are committed to expanding the availability of foods that are fresh, full-flavored, unique, healthy, nutritious and affordable to the community. We are also committed to supporting our local farmers by promoting the sale of locally grown farm products and providing them with direct marketing opportunities. And we contribute to the vitality of the Northside, enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood by providing an activity that fosters community and social interaction. |

HistoryThe Northside Farmers Market opened in June 2005 in response to a complete lack of grocery stores in our neighborhood. Driven by community need, organized by community volunteers, and committed to being accessible to all members of the community, we were the first farmers market in Wisconsin to accept foodstamps market-wide, a model program that has now spread to other area markets. Now in our sixth season, the market is held at the Northside Town Center on Northport Dr. and N. Sherman Avenue, across from Warner Park. Best of all, we share the parking lot with our local neighborhood grocer, Pierce’s Northside Market. |
