Buying local is important for our economy in WI and for the growth of our state. It is important for me to feel as a social worker that I am contributing to the well being of my community. Purchasing goods and services and using products from local sources is a way to "give back" and support one another in a collaborative way. We do this often in Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs group, and believe it is our mission to "pass it forward". Being able to do this in our local community helps everyone. I try to do this by utilizing the people I network with in WWE. This has included using WWE members to design and build my website,my business portrait, and assist with bookkeeping system. Personally, I utilize handymen and local business to provide services in my home.
I started my business, Mary's Daughter LLC in August, 2011 as a sole proprietor. I wanted to provide personal money management and organizational services to older adults and Veterans, as I had been doing this for my 92 year old mom and brother, who is a Vietnam veteran for several years. I wondered how other families managed when they didn't have an adult son or daughter interested or able to provide this service. I thought that combining my extensive social work background and knowledge of money management would be of great service to older adults and veterans, who are often more vulnerable to identity theft, scams and abuse with regard to their financial affairs. I would like to utilize my desire to help others in this way and see this as my mission.
