Our local clientele come for a great cup of coffee and a signature menu for lunch or dinner as well as evening of local jazz. And now that they've heard about us, customers come from Madison and the entire region. They find Mediterranean-inspired tapas with marinated olives, artisanal cheeses, cured salmon, roasted shrimp and even baby back ribs. Our menu has plenty of vegetarian options, wines by the glass or bottle, European style salads, a selection of house-made panini and traditional bistro desserts.

Special group events include wine and cheese tastings, private parties and catering, wine and food pairings, and off-site catering. Flatbread Pizzas are offered every day. The Sunday Bistro Brunch, a local favorite, runs from 10am to 2pm. Dinner specials - Check our website for weekly dinner specials ranging from Chicken Pot Pie to Prosciutto wrapped shrimp.

"Wow! This is Mt. Horeb?" Restaurant reviewers would agree, Bistro 101 is not your Norwegian grandmother's roadside cafe. But you will find grandmothers, downtown business people and families here every day of the week.

When you sample the Bistro salads you'll know - chances are excellent that the basil and tomatoes are from local growers, as is the grass-fed beef. Chef Lisa Bote looks for fresh, regional accents for the Mediterranean flavors, using local products wherever possible. With close to a decade of experience in restaurant purchasing for Spago and multiple years of catering with Wolfgang Puck Catering and Events in Chicago, she brings an international flair to the local culinary scene. Bistro 101 does its part to preserve local culture too, supporting the Mt. Horeb Area Historical Society and other causes.

History

May 6, 2008 marked the first day of Bistro 101 in downtown Mt. Horeb. Hoff Mall, the 1906 site of the first Federated Department Store in Wisconsin, has been elegantly reborn to continue the tradition of a community gathering place. Longtime Mt. Horeb residents remember getting together with their friends, husbands and wives here.

Our vision was to have all kinds of people at Bistro 101 - for the food, libations and good company. One gentleman comes in for a bowl of olives and a beer while his daughters eat the ribs. High school students and their families come for open Mic nights, acoustic music and poetry readings. In winter, we expect to see skiers who want to sit by the fire after a day at Tyrol Basin.
