Body & Soul

Fitchburg Hometown Pharmacy was opened by Thad Schumacher in June 2013 and serves the community’s needs with Free Delivery to the Madison area, sometime by bicycle. The pharmacy also offers a compliance assistance program custom packaging medicines in medication boxes or blister packs to make them easier for the customer to take on schedule.

Fitchburg Hometown Pharmacy has contributed to the community in many ways. Shortly after opening, Thad started a fundraiser for the Friends of the Fitchburg Library. People dropped off used prescription vial caps at the pharmacy and the library, and Thad promised to donate 10 cents per cap back to the organization. The caps not reused are recycled. This past summer, with his passion for cycling, Thad formed the Hometown Pill Peddlers team to raise money for the Bike for Boys and Girls Ride. He organized morning rides for those team members who needed to prepare for the ride. Thad teased his donors that he would ride his bike 2 laps - 100 miles - on the day of the ride, if they donated $2000 in his name. They answered the call and Thad started at 3a.m. on ride day to complete his first 50-mile lap. The team raised over $5000 and is looking forward to adding more cyclists next year.

Thad is one of those people who finds a way to make things happen. Thad often says, "I know that if someone comes into our store to ask for a specific item, we are probably their 3rd or 4th stop. At that point, they have a problem and it is our job to find a solution. I love that challenge."

Fitchburg Hometown Pharmacy has been a Dane Buy Local member since the store opened 3 years ago. Congratulations Fitchburg Hometown Pharmacy!
